Physics Undergraduate Women & Gender Minorities at Stanford (PUWMAS) aims to create a supportive community for undergraduates interested in issues faced by women and gender minorities in physics. We have two main missions:
1) Promote diversity in physics by uniting and uplifting minority voices.
2) Provide opportunities for personal, academic, and career development.
Cardinal Commitment Mentor: Deepti Kannan
Service required to fulfill a Cardinal Commitment: PUWMAS provides many avenues for students to participate in service for the community, including serving as a mentor in our mentorship program, participating in physics outreach workshops through collaborations with SPLASH and POISE and organizing community events that promote diversity and inclusion to the Physics department (such as our annual department-wide ice cream social). To fulfill a Commitment, participants should be involved consistently and significantly in the "behind the scenes" planning of PUWMAS programs for 3 quarters or more.
