Health Education For Life, Partnerships for Kids (HELP 4 Kids)

Multi-quarter part-time
Education & Youth Development,
Health

Our mission is to provide innovative and effective comprehensive health education to teens to prepare them for life's challenges. Our curriculum equips teens with knowledge, skills, and tools to make sound choices and informed decisions for themselves.

Requirement to fulfill a Cardinal Commitment: We teach in middle school classrooms weekly throughout fall and winter quarters every year. In addition, there are opportunities to work on curriculum development during spring quarters or on members' own time. For Cardinal Commitment, we will expect members to commit to at least three quarters of teaching, in addition to either sustained involvement with curriculum development or holding an officer position.

"The more these conversations occur, the more students will be able to admit to themselves and to others that they are struggling. This is the first step toward healthily managing life with a mental illness."

Anika Sinha, '21, is majoring in human biology with a minor in psychology. In addition to working with youth through HELP4Kids and Peer Health Exchange, Anika is involved in Student Clinical Opportunities for Premedical Experience (SCOPE) and Stanford Mental Health Outreach (SMHO). She has served as a resident assistant at Branner Hall and at the Haas Center for Public Service as a Cardinal Service peer advisor.
