Cardinal Careers Community Impact Fellowship 2024-25

Through the Cardinal Careers Community Impact Fellowship, graduating seniors and co-terms work in full-time, paid positions in nonprofit organizations and government agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area or elsewhere in the US. Positions are typically 10- to 12-months in length -- with the exception of two 2-years roles. Fellows are paid a stipend plus health insurance coverage as needed.

The 2024-25 Community Impact Fellowship host organizations submit job description for students to review, and applicants are encouraged to select several organizations to maximize their chance for securing a Community Impact position. Partner organizations review finalist applications, arrange interviews, and make final hiring decisions. Please note that Haas Center staff does not necessarily have direct experience with, nor do we professionally endorse, partner organizations.

The Cardinal Careers Community Impact Fellowship program aims to:

Recruit talented students to work in public service
Engage alumni working in and committed to public service
Assist public interest organizations in finding qualified staff

Please note that we require a letter of recommendation for this fellowship. This letter should be written by someone who is able to attest to your fitness for a professional work environment, your ability to think creatively, and your capacity for leadership.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Community Impact fellowship, you must be a current graduating senior or co-term at Stanford. Applicants are encouraged from any major field of study and from a wide variety of service pathways.

Community Impact fellows commit to the following program requirements:

Attend the pre-fellowship orientation session in late May, 2024 (exact date TBD)
Complete a workshop on the Principles of Ethical and Effective Public Service
Participate in regional professional development sessions throughout the year
Participate in quarterly conversation with the Community Impact Fellowship coordinator to evaluate individual experiences, make program recommendations, and provide advice to incoming fellows
Provide the program with a year-end report detailing the fellowship experience and activities
