A new vision for Stanford seeks to accelerate the University's purposeful impact in the world. Cardinal Service, a university-wide effort to make service an essential feature of a Stanford education, is central to these efforts.

Since 2015, members of the Stanford community have worked together to build a networked-campus approach to service. Looking forward, strategic plans for Cardinal Service programs will be part of realizing Stanford's vision to:

  • advance education for our students to inspire and equip them for civic leadership;
  • accelerate solutions to the world's most pressing problems;
  • enhance knowledge of the world and ourselves; and
  • support our diverse community of faculty, students and staff.

Get Involved

There are many ways for campus partners to get involved in Cardinal Service.

Stay up-to-date and share service opportunities

Subscribe to the Cardinal Service digest or share service opportunities to include. The digest provides students with a curated weekly update on Stanford-sponsored public service events and workshops, programs, fellowships, and courses.

Support students in sustained service through Cardinal Commitment

Students make a significant service commitment for at least three quarters through more than 100 Stanford programs, student organizations, or community organizations. To have your school, center, or department’s program become a Cardinal Commitment program, please contact Kelly Beck Sordi, associate director at the Haas Center for Public Service.

Learn about partnering with Cardinal Quarter

Thirty campus partners offer students full-time, quarter-long or summer service fellowships or internships with a stipend. For more information, contact Jon McConnell, the senior program director for Cardinal Quarter at the Haas Center for Public Service.

Spotlight student stories and your Stanford program

Nominate a student to share their service story or submit a quote and photo about the impact of your Cardinal Service opportunity.

Help promote Cardinal Service programs

Cardinal Service programs are made possible through the work of partners across Stanford. We appreciate your help in promoting Cardinal Service programs to support students in their service journeys. Request a logo or any branding materials.
