StanfordVotes
Provide support to Stanford students, faculty, staff, and community members to register to vote and stay civically engaged
StanfordVotes, a committee within Stanford in Government, was founded after low voter turnout in the 2016 Presidential Election. StanfordVotes has registered thousands of students to vote in federal, state, and local elections since its inception, and continues to engage the Stanford community beyond the ballot.
StanfordVotes members have the opportunity to work with fellow students in voter education, campus partnerships, outreach, and more. StanfordVotes is seeking to engage undergraduate students, graduate students, doctoral students, staff, faculty, and community members from all fields and backgrounds.
Student Projects Include:
- Creating an International Student Voting Guide
- Partnering with Stanford Men’s Basketball to create social media campaigns, design t-shirts, and table at basketball games before Election Day.
- Designing social media graphics distributing valuable information to the community
- Working with the Office of the Registrar to maintain an enrollment hold on Axess for all undergraduate students who are US citizens to encourage voter registration ahead of enrolling for Autumn courses.
- Partner with national voter registration and civic engagement organizations such as ALL IN Vote, Every Vote Counts, and All Vote No Play.
- Coordinate and implement tabling events with community centers and campus spaces, such as the Women’s Community Center and On Call Cafe.
