Stanford Science Olympiad

Educate and motivate students at local middle and high schools to compete in Science Olympiad, a team science competition

Stanford Science Olympiad cover

Mission

Our mission is to engage the many Stanford students coming from Science Olympiad and other beloved science extracurriculars in meaningful science outreach through Science Olympiad. By partnering with local middle and high schools in underserved communities to help create and coach Science Olympiad teams, our club members will have the opportunity to take their love for Science Olympiad and provide the medium to inspire a new generation of high school students to find careers in STEM.

Requirements

  • Fall quarter: Any student seeking a Cardinal Commitment will prepare to coach, complete training if necessary, and begin coaching.
  • Winter quarter: During the months before the Science Olympiad tournament, students will fulfill their Cardinal Commitment by coaching on a weekly or biweekly basis.
  • Spring quarter: After the tournament, students will follow up with the team, complete reflections, and ensure a graceful end to the season.

For a student to complete their Cardinal Commitment, they must attend 70% of all meetings each quarter (this includes coaching sessions, organizational meetings at Stanford, and training).
