Stanford at Peking University Pre-doctoral Fellowship Program

Multi-quarter part-time

The Stanford Center at Peking University (SCPKU) provides Stanford doctoral students with a home base to advance their dissertation research in China. Located on the Peking University campus in an area known for its rich intellectual community, the Center facilitates academic discovery and rich collaborations to support cutting-edge graduate research. The Center provides workspaces, Stanford amenities, internet access and bi-lingual staff.

Limited grants are available to support research while at SCPKU. Doctoral students who already have funding from other sources can apply for SCPKU office space; those needing funding can also apply for a limited number of fellowships to support research activities and SCPKU office space. The program is open to doctoral students in all fields, disciplines, and schools. Aside from promoting cutting edge research, a key goal of the program is to enrich Stanford students’ networks by increasing opportunities that will lead to new, long-term research programs and collaborations in China, regardless of field of specialization. Awardees are expected to spend the bulk of their fellowship period in Beijing and maximize their time at SCPKU.

There are two types of awards that doctoral students can apply for: 1) Grant Plus Office Space, and 2) Grant of Office Space Only. Both are geared toward students who will be based primarily at SCPKU.

Eligibility

All Stanford doctoral students, regardless of field or school, are eligible to apply for either type of award.

The selection committee will strive for diversity of disciplines as well as the potential for proposed activities to leverage local resources to produce cutting edge research. Note that this program is geared toward students who will be based primarily at SCPKU.
