Stanford Health Advocacy and Research in the Emergency Department (SHARED)

Multi-quarter part-time
Health

SHAR(ED) is a group of undergraduate volunteers who work with patients in the Emergency Department to identify high risk health behaviors, screen for social needs, provide health education and connect patients to community and hospital resources. Volunteers also work with local organizations such as Second Harvest and learn about social determinants of health in EMED 125.

Service Required by group to fulfill a Cardinal Commitment: As participants of SHARED, members will be able to volunteer in the Emergency Department and work directly with patients for about 4 hours each week. We ask our members to commit to 3 quarters of volunteering, as the training process can be time intensive, which aligns with the requirement of the Cardinal Commitment.
