Stanford American Medical Women's Association cover

The mission of SAMWA is to elevate the standard of women’s healthcare by enhancing the quality of women’s patient care and reshaping the culture of medicine to prioritize women’s health issues. We are dedicated to advocating for equity, ensuring excellence in healthcare, and uplifting the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of women in medicine. Our student organization is open to anyone and everyone passionate about advocating for gender equity in the medical field and interested in addressing women’s health issues that affect both patients and college students. SAMWA provides students with a unique opportunity to gain knowledge about essential women’s health topics, develop skills in healthcare advocacy, contribute to transforming career parity in medicine, and benefit from the strides we make in raising awareness of women’s health issues. Joining SAMWA will give students early exposure to and experience in healthcare advocacy while deepening their understanding of how organized medicine at the national level intersects with grassroots level healthcare. The skills our members learn and the connections they make through SAMWA will prepare them for future careers of leadership and service in women’s health and medicine.
