Through the Health Equity Summer Fellowship, a Cardinal Quarter opportunity, undergraduate students support efforts to address the health and well-being of underserved communities across the United States. Students can choose to work in a variety of service pathways related to public health, healthcare, or community wellbeing. This may include direct service in community-based clinics, advocacy with a nonprofit, or community engaged learning and research with a legislative body. Potential areas of interest include, but are not limited to, healthcare access, health literacy, mental health, nutrition, food security, health technology, cultural competency in healthcare, and environmental health. Health Equity Fellows spend the summer full-time for nine weeks with a supervisor/mentor in a U.S. community organization of their choice. This fellowship opportunity is not intended for physician shadowing opportunities or for students engaging in academic or lab research.

Each Health Equity Fellow receives a base stipend of $7000 to support travel and living expenses during the fellowship. Financial aid and supplemental funding are available to students who qualify.
