East Palo Alto Academy Foundation

Multi-quarter part-time
Education & Youth Development

East Palo Alto Academy Foundation (EPAAF) is a small nonprofit organization supporting the staff, students, and graduates of the East Palo Alto Academy (EPAA). Founded in 2001, the charter high school has long partnered with the Stanford Graduate School of Education (GSE), having initially been supported by the Stanford-affiliated nonprofit, Stanford New Schools. We rebranded as EPAAF in 2017, and we remain to this day closely associated with–and supported by–the GSE.

Over 90% of the EPAA student body identifies as socio-economically disadvantaged and/or an ethnic minority, and many are the first in their families to graduate high school. To meet the needs of our students, we provide academic, mental health, and career readiness support. We additionally work behind the curtain to raise funds for EPAA and student scholarships. Today, our programs and services help ~300 students develop their innate strengths in a safe space—and get to, through, and beyond higher education.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:
We are looking for a tech-savvy volunteer to help us draft and post social media content, oversee EPAAF’s presence on social media platforms, and engage followers. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic student seeking experience in marketing, social media engagement and brand building. Key responsibilities include:

● Assisting with the design and execution of social media campaigns
● Responding to comments and DMs on social media platforms
● Brainstorming and researching ideas for original content
● Creating compelling graphics to share across social channels
● Writing social media captions that speak to the company’s target audience
● Creating and distributing content such as blogs, infographics, and press releases
on social media
● Ensuring brand message is consistent

Location of the Work: Volunteers will work remotely but have the opportunity to attend team office days every Wednesday. However, in-person work is not required and is entirely optional.
