As you prepare to graduate, Cardinal Careers can help you pursue a job in public service or integrate service into any career. Advising

Individual advising is the heart of our work. The Cardinal Careers team offers one-on-one advising to help you explore career possibilities, craft strong applications, and connect with alumni doing work that is aligned with your aspirations. You are always welcome to book an advising appointment with a Cardinal Careers team member.

Cardinal Careers Fellowships

If you are a graduating senior or coterm with a deep commitment to public service, consider applying for a Cardinal Careers Fellowship! The Haas Center offers graduating seniors and coterms full-time, paid, and mentored experiences in leading organizations across the public and social sectors. Students are selected based on leadership and service background, preparedness for a fellowship experience, and strong academics. Fellowships are typically one year in length.

Eligibility: Senior and Coterms (and graduate students for Schneider and Lokey)

How to Apply: Applications are due in January, with the exception of the Community Impact Fellowship, which is due in February.

Truman Scholarship

The Cardinal Careers team oversees the Stanford nomination process for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. The Truman Scholarship is the premier public service scholarship of the US that recognizes exceptional juniors which funds graduate study, provides leadership training, and offers a community network of national scholars committed to making a difference. Pathways to Purposeful Careers Course (Fall Quarter)

The Pathways to Purposeful Careers course (URBANST 190A; See cross-listings), developed in partnership with the School of H&S and Stanford in Government, helps students from all years and disciplines explore career paths in public service. For one unit, Students hear from distinguished public servants and entrepreneurs about their career paths and how they have helped to shape public policy and civic life across sectors. For an optional second unit, students participate in a weekly seminar designed to prepare them for their social impact career search.
