Building Skills Partnership (BSP) is a statewide organization that works towards its mission to improve the quality of life for low-wage property service workers and their families by increasing their skills, access to education and opportunities for career and community advancement. BSP offers the following programing: English as a Second Language, Computer Literacy, Citizenship Preparation, Parent Education, Financial Literacy, Health, and Vocational Training. Please visit our website or download our app, MyBSP: Connect, Learn, Advance, to learn more about BSP!

Stanford students can serve in a number of ways:

  1. Teacher Aide - BSP offers free English as a Second Language, Computer Literacy, and Citizenship Preparation classes to the community on Saturdays. Volunteers will assist instructors in group activities and individual students learn English, computer skills or prepare for their citizenship interview.
  2. Outreach Leader - BSP is constantly looking for volunteers who speak English and Spanish to help staff do outreach for workshops or new programming. Outreach leaders will receive training on how to communicate with interested participants over the phone.
  3. Researcher - As BSP continues to grow, participants give BSP staff feedback on how we can best address their needs. BSP would like to work with a student who would like to create and conduct a needs assessment for our participants specific to one of BSP’s programs. With the information gathered, the researcher will be helping BSP decide which programs to offer to members.
