Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA)
Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) believes that education is the most powerful way to change the world. We have a proven 10-year track record of tutoring Black and Brown, justice-impacted, foster, homeless, and at-risk youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are dedicated to erasing the academic achievement gap and opportunity gap.
BATA seeks volunteers from all backgrounds, multilingual or otherwise, proficient in math, essay writing, and computer science. Our K-12th grade math, reading, digital literacy, and computer science learning programs align with Common Core State Standards, regional LCAP Priorities, and college admissions requirements.
BATA meets the needs of Bay Area children through tutoring and classes given 340 days each year. All tutoring and classes are currently online. After COVID, tutoring and classes will also be held on campus after school, along with weekends and summer break in community centers and libraries.
Post pandemic, BATA is rapidly expanding its Bay Area impact to offer more online services to students of essential workers, student athletes, and immigrant families. We offer Stanford students several unique opportunities to pay it forward, develop leadership skills, and influence systemic change.
